How the Temporary Inbox Works
When you click "Generate Temporary Email," TempNova requests a random domain from our CORS-enabled mail API and creates a unique mailbox with a cryptographically randomized local part. A JWT token is stored in your browser's localStorage to authenticate subsequent message fetches. The system polls the API every few seconds to check for new incoming messages. When an email arrives, the raw payload is sanitized — external images, scripts, and tracking beacons are stripped — before being rendered inside a sandboxed iframe that prevents any cross-origin data leakage.

Privacy & Security Benefits
TempNova never stores your emails on its own servers. All messages are fetched directly from the mail API and rendered client-side. The sandboxed iframe reader blocks JavaScript execution, CSS injection, and external resource loading — neutralizing tracking pixels, web beacons, and XSS payloads embedded in HTML emails. Session data exists only in your browser's localStorage and is permanently deleted when you clear your cache or release the inbox.

- The session timer starts at 60 minutes. You can extend it indefinitely by clicking the renew button next to your active tab.

- Guest inboxes are stored locally. For cross-device access, sign up for optional cloud sync which saves your credentials securely in Supabase.
- Are my received emails encrypted?
- All communication between TempNova and the mail API occurs over HTTPS. Emails are rendered in a sandboxed iframe with strict security policies.
